This is an effect where the magician produces a card from their "thin looking wallet" which would be either the named card or one away from the named card
this "one off" element is achieved by having "off by one " written on the back of each card so for instance if the 5 of hearts was the chosen card then the magician would pluck out the 4 of hearts which would seem a miss UNTIL the performer would say they were close-indeed off by one- and then reveal the "off by one" on the back of the card to demonstrate the magician knew the prediction ahead of time.

i forgot to add that due to a subtlety/caveat you use in the presentation you avoid the use of aces or jokers.this is done by guessing the card the spectator has by saying something akin to "thats too easy...everyone picks aces!" if they have an ace you have a miracle,if there is no response to your prediction state move on and tell them to"think of a totally different card" this eliminates the aces fully
.Kenton also mentions excluding the Jokers by a subtlety but i just dont put them in to start with
